Enthusiasts tout both the health and emotional benefits of raising your own flock. At Earth Zone, we’re a bunch of animal-loving hippies, but this one has us a little surprised. Obviously, there is a significant financial and emotional investment in raising your own chickens for eggs. What do you do if your hen stops laying at only a year old? Do you commit to the next 10 years or so of care of your chicken as a ‘pet’ or does your laying-hen become Sunday’s dinner. What are your thoughts?
